Convent of the Sacred Heart is seeking a Lower School Kindergarten Associate Teacher, beginning in September 2017.
Summary:
The Associate Teacher Program in the Lower School is a two year teacher-training program designed for college graduates enrolled in a Master’s Program pursuing a career in teaching.

Responsibilities:
The principle role of the associate teacher is to assist in the classroom working or co-teaching with the head teacher to achieve the best balance between teaching students and the demands of the grade program. The associate teacher will share routine tasks with the head teacher and will have additional responsibilities which include supervising at lunch and  roof times and escorting children to and from specialty classes. Associate teachers are considered members of the faculty and as such attend faculty and grade-level meetings as well as professional development days.  Associate teachers are also expected to support classroom teachers with preparation of lessons and projects.

The liaison for associate teachers is the Head of the Mentoring Program.  Associate teachers will meet regularly with the Head of the Mentoring Program to discuss their progress as they begin teaching in the classroom and working with their head teacher.  The Head of the Mentoring Program will also meet with the head teachers to discuss the progress of the associate teachers.
