SUMMARY:

The Aquatics Coordinator position is a part-time, 11-month position that will assist the Aquatics Director by supporting the growth and development of the revenue programs at Convent of the Sacred Heart’s Athletics & Wellness Center, primarily assisting with the Sacred Heart Swim School. The successful candidate will work daytime shifts (generally Tuesday through Friday from 12:00-5:00pm, Saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm) and perform various duties to support school and community programs including formulating and implementing marketing strategies for the Sacred Heart Swim School, Masters Swim Club, & Cardinal Swim Club; communication with clients; record-keeping and reporting on programs; scheduling of classes and lessons; and assisting with Mind Body technology. The Aquatics Coordinator will also serve as a coordinator on the pool deck during Swim School hours. This person should also be certified as a professional rescuer and able to step in to cover lifeguard shifts when needed. The Swim School Supervisor is also eligible to teach swimming and will work in the new 55,000 SF Athletics and Wellness Center located at 406 East 91st Street.

Responsibilities:

  • In association with the Aquatics Director, research and design marketing strategies for public involvement in revenue aquatics programs at Sacred Heart.
  • Work in conjunction with the Admissions and Development departments to produce marketing tools like flyers, mailers, emails, and other marketing tools for the Sacred Heart 91st Street community while also promoting it to other schools, early education institutions, and the greater Upper East Side neighborhood.
  • Assist with the Sacred Heart Swim School client relations.
  • Assist the Aquatics Director in promoting a safe and enjoyable experience at the pool by checking equipment regularly and supporting the staff of lifeguards and instructors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or a sports related field.
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Experience working in aquatics environments and youth sports.
  • Experience in promoting programs and managing information.
  • Proficient with the use of multiple technology platforms, particularly MS-Office applications and MindBody (or similar scheduling software).
  • The physical ability to perform routine pool duties including lifting and moving pool lines, lifeguard stands, touch pads, and other pool equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills for quality customer service.
  • A record of integrity and commitment to educational endeavors.
  • Prefer candidates with strong experience in teaching swimming.
  • A willingness to assist in additional responsibilities as set forth by the Aquatics Director and/or the Division Head of Athletics & Wellness.
