Join the team at Convent of the Sacred Heart's state-of-the-art Athletics and Wellness Center at 406 East 91st Street. Our new, 50,000-square-foot Athletic and Wellness Center allows the school to enhance not only the school's physical space and rigorous academic curriculum but also the bodies, minds and spirits of our students. The facility includes an indoor competition-sized six-lane pool; regulation-size basketball and volleyball courts, exercise and fitness rooms,  dance studio space; and more. This comprehensive athletic facility is the site of all physical education classes, including swimming instruction, wellness programs, and many other activities and programs.

Job Summary
The lifeguard will be responsible for the overall safety of the pool, deck surrounding the pool, and locker rooms adjacent to the pool.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide lifeguarding responsibilities during swimming sessions
Maintain good physical shape to respond to emergencies
Remain alert and diligent throughout the shift
Respond to an emergency in the facility
Enforce facility rules and policies consistently and politely
Keep pool deck clean
Monitor and maintain pool chemicals
Other duties as set forth by the Aquatics Director or CSH staff

Requirements
American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Certification for:
  • Lifeguarding
  • CPR/AED
  • First Aid
  • Previous experience desired

The lifeguard must be able to work as a member of a team, be a positive ambassador of the school, exhibit model behavior for students and patrons, perform with a high level of customer service, and maintain a professional demeanor.

Pool Hours

Monday through Thursday 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. 
Fridays through Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pool shifts will vary in time and duration.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
