Upper School Computer Science teacher and Technology Integrationist
Start Date: late August 2018
The Upper School is recruiting a full-time Computer Science teacher and Technology Integrationist, starting late August 2018. Sacred Heart teachers are passionate educators who inspire students to reach their full potential. The Computer Science teacher and Technology Integrationist will be responsible for supporting teachers with integrating technology into the classroom environment as well as teaching courses including: Introduction to Computer Science, Programming, and AP Computer Science A.
Responsibilities
The teacher will report to the Head of the Upper School, and join a highly collaborative, innovative, and experienced faculty. Specific responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Teach 3 to 4 classes
- Provide academic support for students outside of class time (answering homework questions, consulting with them about their writing, and the like), as needed;
- Collaborate and participate actively with the faculty on innovative curriculum development and assessment;
- Attend department and faculty meetings;
- Advise 8 to 10 Upper School students;
- Participate actively in the life of the school community, which includes assuming at least one additional responsibility outside of the classroom.
Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will
- possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Education, and possess a broad range of technological skills
- have content area mastery of Computer Science and digital citizenship programming as well as pedagogical knowledge of teaching Computer Science
- mentor, collaborate with, and coach the faculty in the use of instructional technologies to promote teaching and learning
- support school-wide and division-specific regulations and policies, including the Acceptable Use Policy rollout to students and teachers
- work collaboratively with the Technology Department to troubleshoot issues reported by faculty, staff, and students
