Convent of the Sacred Heart is New York City's oldest independent school for girls, educating students in Pre-K through 12. Positions Available:
Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach (5 days per week, beginning August 21)

7/8 MS Assistant Soccer Coach (3 days per week, beginning September 5)

7/8 MS Volleyball Coaches - (3 days per week, beginning September 5)

5/6 MS Cross Country Assistant Coach (2 days per week, beginning September 5)

5/6 MS Swim Assistant Coach (2 days per week, beginning November 1)
 

Reports to: Director of Athletics – Competitive Sports
 

FLSA: Exempt - Part Time

In September 2014, Convent of the Sacred Heart unveiled its new Athletics and Wellness Center at 406 East 91st Street. This 50,000 square foot, state-of-the art facility marks a new chapter in the illustrious history of New York City's oldest independent school for girls. The new facility has a pool, regulation size basketball and volleyball courts, weight room, dance room, and multipurpose room. Sacred Heart is a member of the AAIS League and NYSAIS.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic, moral-ethical, and athletic development of student-athletes; demonstrate the highest priority is the health, safety and welfare of student-athletes
  • Demonstrate a high level of competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and conduct of practice sessions
  • Support the mission of the school and the Division of Athletics and Wellness, while positively and effectively leading the student-athletes and managers
  • Assist in the development of a long-term program vision, plan, and curriculum
  • Exhibit leadership and professional behavior and communication in dealings with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administrators
  • Complete and/or assist with all administrative duties including, but not limited to:
    • Roster management, game day operations, scheduling, score reporting, transportation, management of staff and student-managers, CPR, VIRTUS and other trainings, distribution and collection of uniforms, attendance at League and CSH coaches’ meetings, communication with internal and external constituents, attendance and participation at school and athletic department special events, and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to AAIS, NYSAIS, School, Division, and Department of Athletics rules and regulations

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience. Previous high school playing and college playing experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage relationships at the administrative, student-athlete, and parent level
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to student-athletes, and support student success on all levels
  • Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent school setting, vision and creativity, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
A stipend is paid for the coaching position. Additionally, candidates must complete a criminal background check and must possess or obtain, prior to the start of the season, current First Aid and CPR certification
