Junior Varsity (JV) Volleyball Head Coach
Beginning Fall 2025
Reports to: Associate Director of Athletics
FLSA: Exempt part-time
Salary Range: $5,250-$5,750
Season Dates: August 18 - October 31, 2025
Time Frame:
- August 18 - 22: 9am - 3pm
- August 25 - November 3:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 3pm - 6:30pm
Summary:
The JV Volleyball Head Coach is a part-time seasonal position (August-October) responsible for the leadership, development, and daily operations of the Convent of the Sacred Heart Junior Varsity Volleyball team. This includes providing high-level skill instruction, contributing to the athletic and personal growth of student-athletes, and helping to cultivate a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture in line with the values of the school and athletic department. They will also collaborate with the Varsity Volleyball Head Coach to ensure vertical alignment of playing philosophy and coaching methodology.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate high-level instruction in volleyball skills, tactics and strategy, supporting the implementation of effective, engaging practice sessions.
- Help reinforce a strong, positive team culture aligned with the values and philosophy of the CSH athletic program.
- Strive for competitive excellence through consistent preparation, player development, and sportsmanship, especially during match play.
- Demonstrate genuine care for the holistic development of student-athletes—social, emotional, academic, ethical, and athletic—with an unwavering commitment to their health, safety, and well-being.
- Responsible for all operational aspects of running the JV volleyball team including, but not limited to:
- Team selections
- Roster managementCommunicating team schedules and transportation requirements
- Record and stat keeping
- Acting as liaison to team parents
- Distribution and collection of team uniforms
- Attend League/CSH coaches’ meetings
- Manage assistant coach/es for the team, providing mentorship and support.
- Collaborate closely with the Varsity Volleyball Head Coach and Associate Director of Athletics to advance the program and foster team success, ensuring consistency in program philosophy and goals
- Commit to use of video and statistical analysis as a teaching tool for student athletes.
- Model leadership, professionalism, and integrity in all interactions with student-athletes, families, colleagues, and school administrators.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and adhere to all rules, policies, and guidelines set by the school, league, and athletic department.
- ​Maintain professional, collaborative relationships with colleagues, both within and beyond the athletics department.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and demonstrate a commitment to personal growth as a coach and educator.
- Support the Associate Director of Athletics with additional duties necessary for the success of the team and overall athletics program, even if not explicitly outlined above.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous high school or collegiate coaching experience required; high school playing experience required, collegiate playing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball programming, preferably with female high school athletes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, families, and school administrators.
- A record of integrity, reliability, punctuality and strong work ethic
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season)
- Availability for practices, matches, and team events, as the schedule requires.
