Makerspace Assistant
Part-Time

Position: Makerspace Assistant
Reports to: Director of Makerspace
FLSA: Non-Exempt Hourly

Convent of the Sacred Heart, seeks a Makerspace Assistant for the 2022-2023 academic school year.

The principal role of the Makerspace Assistant is to assist the Director of Makerspace in maintaining the tools, equipment, and integration projects in the makerspace during school hours and occasional after school activities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist Director of Makerspace in maintaining the tools and technologies in the makerspace
  • Develop safety protocols and best practices related to the tools in the makerspace
  • Assist in building out integrated projects with the science department
  • Build out a living curriculum for each of the tools in the makerspace
  • Collect feedback from a small cohort of students on how to improve training and machine maintenance will be more digestible to them giving students hands-on experience with machine maintenance
Required Skills
  • Currently or previously worked in a makerspace/innovation lab
  • Experience in 3D printers, Soldering, Laser Cutter, Arduino or other programming/coding experience, Adobe Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), Sewing/Embroidery machine, etc.
  • Makerspace safety protocols
Education and Experience
  • Currently have or working toward a bachelors, graduate degree, or higher in engineering, technology education, or equivalent experience.
  • One-year experience preferred
Compensation
  • Hourly wage of $30 per hour.
  • 15-19 hours per week
All duties and responsibilities of this role are expected to be conducted on-site.
