Position: Part-Time Swim Instructor
Reports to: Aquatics Director
FLSA: Non-Exempt, Hourly

The Sacred Heart Swim School is looking for passionate swim instructors to work with swimmers aged 3 and up in private, semi-private, and group format. The Swim Instructor will deliver lessons based on the Sacred Heart Swim School curriculum while ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for the swimmers. This is a part-time position with variable hours on weekday afternoons and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluating members swimming ability to determine the correct swim level
  • Instructs swimming lessons
  • Creates an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants
  • Initiates, develops and maintains positive relationships with participants and their families
  • Responds quickly and efficiently to member questions regarding Swim School program policies and procedures
  • Maintains order and safety in swimming areas and assists in enforcing pool policies
  • Immediately reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors to Aquatics Director
  • Provides a safe, clean and organized pool area
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and order of our Aquatics Facilities

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Working towards a high school diploma, GED or higher
  • Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety or coaching experience preferred
  • One-year experience preferred
Licenses / Certifications
  • CPR-PR/AED/First Aid preferred
  • First Aid certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
  • Ability to swim/teach basic and advanced swimming techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills, energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build relationship with members of all ages
  • Comfortable working with all age groups, including very young children
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and empathy
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner
  • Capability to work independently
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and easily
  • Be flexible with work hours
Compensation
  • Hourly wage, commensurate with experience
The swim instructor must be able to work as a member of a team, be a positive ambassador of the school, exhibit model behavior for students and patrons, perform with a high level of customer service, and maintain a professional demeanor.
