Position: Junior Varsity (JV) Soccer Head Coach (Fall Season)
Reports to: Associate Director of Athletics
FLSA: Exempt part-time
Salary Range: $5,750-$6,500/season
Season Dates: August 20 - October 28, 2026 (Aligned with Upper School preseason and AAIS league schedule)
Schedule:
  • August 20th, 21st and 24th - 28th: 9am - 3pm
  • August 31st - October 28th
    • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
    • Times vary between 3:00pm - 6:00pm depending on match and field availability
Summary:
The Junior Varsity (JV) Head Soccer Coach plays a critical role within our highly competitive, selective Upper School program. Tasked with developing student-athletes to meet high standards of commitment, sportsmanship, training, and performance, the JV Head Coach focuses heavily on technical refinement, tactical execution, and strategic preparation for competition within the AAIS league. Working in close alignment with the Varsity Soccer Head Coach and the Associate Director of Athletics, the coach serves as a bridge to the Varsity squad, implementing the overall program vision and preparing athletes to compete for championship success.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-level, advanced instruction in soccer skills, set pieces, team tactics, and competitive strategy during rigorous training sessions.
  • Reinforce a positive, highly disciplined team culture that strictly embodies H.E.A.R.T. values (Honor, Effort, Attitude, Resolve, Togetherness) and aligns with the school's mission.
  • Execute a developmental curriculum in strict alignment with the long-term program vision, strategy, and system of play established by the Varsity Soccer Head Coach to ensure a seamless transition for athletes moving up.
  • Demonstrate deep care for the holistic growth of Upper School student-athletes—balancing their social, emotional, academic, and athletic needs while ensuring their health and safety remain paramount.
  • Coordinate and manage match strategies, personnel rotations, and tactical adjustments during competitive inter-school contests.
  • Model superior leadership, emotional maturity, and professionalism in all interactions with student-athletes, families, match officials, and administrators.
  • Complete vital administrative duties, including detailed attendance tracking, match logistics coordination, uniform distribution/collection, family communications, and injury reporting via the Athletic Trainer.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of relevant competitive soccer coaching experience (high school varsity, JV, or competitive travel club level preferred).
  • High school playing experience required; collegiate playing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to provide authoritative leadership, structure, and tactical direction to Upper School student-athletes pushing for athletic excellence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage relationships with families, student-athletes, and school administrators.
  • A demonstrated record of integrity, strict punctuality, reliability, and a rigorous professional work ethic.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or mandatory completion prior to August 20, 2026).
  • Full availability to travel to away contests via school-provided transportation and commit to the intensive Upper School schedule.
