Middle School French Teacher

Beginning August 2025

Position: Middle School French Teacher
Reports to: Middle School Division Head
FLSA: Exempt, full time
Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 annually

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in French (five years of experience teaching French in middle school if degree is not in French)
  • Master’s degree in French or Education preferred
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Teaching French, grades 5-8, using a full immersion approach (95% target language)
  • Helping students build a foundation in French to prepare them for continued learning in the Upper School
  • Responsible for Level I Honors Courses in French
  • Commitment to using innovative teaching practices and technology to enhance instruction
  • Demonstrate understanding and enthusiasm for working with adolescent learners, different instructional modalities and flexibility in approach for working with various grade levels and learning styles. Lessons would include: authentic literature, songs, and games, etc.
  • Ability to use multiple modalities to engage students, a strong sense of school community and teamwork, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Provide academic support for students outside of class time by answering homework questions and consulting with them as needed
  • Attend department and faculty meetings.
  • Support the students and division by covering study halls, lunch duties and other assignments as needed
  • Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist, anti-bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school
